What's On This Week

23rd January 2017

Dear Parents / Carers,

Al Saints have enjoyed another fantastic week. Here are some of the highlights:

The Gryphon Band and Choir Concert: On Tuesday 17th the Gryphon School Band and Choir treated all the children to a fabulous music concert. Many familiar songs were played and the concert lasted for over 45 minutes. Our children had the opportunity to join in with some singing which they all thoroughly enjoyed. It is hoped that this performance will inspire the children to either take up a musical instrument or to continue with gusto their current musical tuition. Many thanks to Val Mizzen, Head of Music at the Gryphon, for organising this performance.

Year 3 & 4 Football and Year 5 & 6 Netball matches: On Wednesday Buckland Newton visited us to play football and netball matches. It was the first match for our Year 3s and 4s who played tremendously well and were just pipped at the post by one goal. Special praise went to Aaron Reed who performed brilliantly as the team’s goal keeper. Our netball team were delighted as they scored 4 goals winning the match 4:1. Players of match were Annie Sprake and Cali Hancock due to their positivity throughout the game. Well done to all!

Sapphire Badminton Tuition: Sapphire class are currently enjoying a 10 week programme of Badminton Tuition provided by the Dorset Association of Badminton. All the children seem to have really taken to the sport and it has generated a lot of interest for our afterschool badminton club which takes place after school on a Friday (Booking forms available on line and from the school office). You never know we might just inspire a future badminton Olympian.

Visit from Project Linus: Today in assembly we had a special visitor from Project Linus – Tricia Morrison. Project Linus is a network of volunteer needlewomen throughout the UK whose aim is to provide comfort and cheer to children who are sick, distressed or simply sad. Their moto is  “A quilt is a hug you can keep”.  All quilts are homemade and they have kindly donated a special quilt to All Saints to go into our Elsa room. Sincere thanks for this very thoughtful and beautiful gift.

Please look on our School website www.bishopscaundle.dorset.sch.uk  for photos of some these events.

Gentle Reminders….

Messy Church: We are very excited to report that Messy Church is back next week and you are all invited to join the Messy Church team on Thursday 26th January at 3.30am. This is a real family event to also include younger and older sibling and grandparents too. The theme is ‘Love’ and there will be lots of wonderful craft activities and stories for you all to enjoy. On top of all of that the team provide a plentiful supper for you all (yummy jacket potatoes with a selection of fillings) so there is no need to worry about cooking tea that night. We strongly urge you all to attend and take advantage of this gorgeous opportunity to enjoy some wonderful family time.

Blackmore Vale Lions Half Marathon – Helped required: On Sunday 5th February the Blackmore Vale Lions Half Marathon takes place which starts from Bishops Caundle. We have agreed that the school can be used for parking and we are looking for volunteers to help with this offering. The Lions are always very grateful for our help and normally make a donation to the school. If you can spare a couple of hours that morning please let us know. We would really appreciate your help. Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks & kind regards,

All Saints
