September 2023

Today we explored printing and pattern making using Lego pieces to make our own printing blocks.   Some of the children experimented with creating repeating patterns and letter shapes.  We realised that our prints always appeared in reverse like a mirror image, so we had to adapt to account for this.

-Shades/Hues
September 2023
KS1 have continued to explore printing today by creating their own printing blocks using card, glue, lolly sticks and matchsticks.  We have also tried a different printing technique to make our backgrounds, using shaving foam and droppers of coloured ink in a tray.  We then gently pressed our background paper onto the tray to create some amazing, colourful background prints.   Next lesson we will use black ink on our printing blocks to complete our artwork.
October 2023
Today we looked at Klandisky's Circles, then experimented using different types of media to colour in our own image made of overlapping shapes.

We used:

-water colour paints
-pastels
-felt tips
-pencil crayons

Afterwards, we talked about the different textures and effects that were created.

Jan 2024
This week we looked at the artwork of Brigit Riley and her use of line and pattern.   We tried creating different types of lines ourselves, before creating a group piece of artwork together.
