We had such a fantastic afternoon because.... Frenchy arrived... a visiting chicken! She has been very kind and let us feel her! But most importantly, she has left us 7 of her eggs. At the moment we have learnt:
- Where chickens come from
- What type of animal a chicken is
- What the cell looks like in an egg
- How many days it takes for a chicken to hatch
We would like to say a big thank you to:
Not only have they provided the eggs and incubator, but also they are coming back weekly to check up on our 'looking after' skills... watch this space for our next learning and update as to how the chicks are progressing!
We are introduced to Frenchy...
Our eggs are placed in to our incubator
We saw the cell... can you see it?
We asked lots of questions
Our area in our library is now set up... why don't you come and talk to the eggs!
This is Ted. His job is to look after the eggs. He has a big job over the weekend, as he will cuddle the incubator to keep them warm until we arrive back on Monday!
We felt the belly... it was really warm!
We inspected the feathers!
