Continuing from last week, we have been looking at colours and shapes. Whereas last week we focused on abstract art, this week we introduced the children to the idea of semi-abstract art: where the artwork is abstract but some forms of objects, that may have inspired the artwork, are still visible.

To achieve this effect, we traced around kitchen utensils and then explored the different shapes we could make by overlapping them.

For some of KS2, we discussed the use of negative space in helping to develop an abstract pattern.
