E-Safety Committee  Meeting  Minutes 21.11.22

Present: Mrs Legg, Lilly, Nat, Keeva, Marlowe, Arthur, Hannah, Jesse, Moby

Purpose of meeting – to review and vote for winning poster designs for our E-Safety Competition.

 Actions:

Certificates will be presented in Worship on Friday 25th November by the committee.
Mrs Legg to publish some examples of posters on the school website.
Mrs Legg to laminate posters ready to distribute.

Compose letter to businesses/venues asking if they would display an E-Safety Poster to help the general public stay safe online.

Actions from previous meeting:

Ensure all class members know where charters are displayed in class.
Topaz – check where on display, Rubies check where on display.  They have definitely been shared and signed!
Invite Mrs Coleman (Computing Governor) to join future E-Safety Meetings – Mrs Coleman attended our meeting today.
Enquire about doing an E-Safety assembly one Monday before Christmas.  Mrs Legg to confirm with Mr Roberts – 31st October?

Supporting the Wider community

Ask pupils to design posters (optional homework).  Introduce in Worship on 31st October.  Blank, or template ideas (computer screen in centre, speech bubbles, Superhero etc).  Posters should have 1-5 Rules (maximum) for how to be safe online.    Not a competition.  We will use EVERYONE’S posters as long as we can read them!

1. Committee Badges

All badges handed out to members. 

2. E-Safety Charter

Sapphire – it is done, but pupils not sure where it is displayed.  Nat and Lilly to get Mr GP to show class where charter is in classroom.

Rubies – Ms Barnes was away when originally handed out, class will complete this week.

Topaz – signed straight away.  Ask Miss Scott to show class where it is displayed.

Diamonds – signed today and will be displayed by classroom computers.

 

3. E-Safety Lessons for Autumn 1

Sapphires – not taught cyberbullying lesson yet.   Nat and Lilly to ask Mr GP to teach asap.

Rubies – have taught cyberbullying lesson.

Topaz & Diamonds – have learned about keeping Personal Information Safe with Miss Amor.

 

4. Actions

2. Agreeing statements on our school charter

Some elements rephrased to reflect growing use of Chromebooks in school.

Charters printed and representatives will return to class with these to share and ask all classmates to sign. Charters to be displayed in classroom.

E Safety Meeting Minutes 20.10.20

NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS:  Bea, Lilly, James, Kiara, Leo, Lacey and James.
 
 
E-Safety Lessons:

Sapphires - Not any full lessons yet due to reduced timetable.   General talk about passwords and cyberbullying.   
Rubies - Yes - with Mrs Regan.
Topaz & Diamonds -  Have been doing the weekly computing fluency quizzes and learned about the terms 'E-Safety' and 'Cyberbullying.'  They have had a lesson on what information is okay to share and what is not okay to share.     
 
 
 
This week 
 
As Covid-19 interrupted our plans for the end of last year, we have reviewed the ideas suggested by the previous committee to help engage the wider community in E-Safety and produced a new action plan for this academic year.
 
Sapphires suggested we write a letter to local businesses, but thought that we should definitely check their own websites out ourselves before asking them to share our posters and videos (to make sure those websites were e-safe).     
 
Rubies suggested that we could think of ways to support the older generation who aren't as confident with computers.
 
Diamonds and Topaz are going to check that their classes know about the Esafety charter and have it up in their classrooms.  
 
Autumn Term: Design E-Safety Posters/Messages to share at the bottom of the weekly newsletter.
                         Write letters to local businesses and community services, asking if they would share our E-
                         Safety posters on their social media, websites and at their venues etc...

Spring Term:   E-Safety Assembly and video for our website (Safer Internet Week).

Welcome to our new Committee Member representing Reception.
 
E-Safety Lessons:

Rubies - safe passwords and preventing hacking.
Topaz - have a lesson this afternoon on judging websites.
Sapphires have also had a lesson on passwords and thinking of ways we can memorize complicated passwords that use symbols and random letters so that we don't need to write them down.   
 
 
This week 
 
Thinking ahead to our Action Plan for the summer term, we have thought about ways we might engage with the wider community.  
Ideas include:
*making e safety posters and hanging them around the village.
*speaking to pubs, village halls, swimming pool at Folke, garages, churches etc and asking if we can put posters up in those areas too.
*working on a project with Sherborne Library.

E Safety Meeting Minutes 20 & 21.1.20
 
Present:
All members present:  2 Sapphires, 2 Rubies, 1 Topaz, 1 Diamond & Mrs Legg
 
E-Safety Lessons:

Diamonds class reported that they have been learning not to talk to strangers online and not to talk to anyone you don't know in real life.  
Rubies class reported that they had looked at different shopping websites (like Amazon, Playdough, Nat Geo Kids and Ford) and discussed what to do if you saw a pop-up or an advert.  
 
 
This week 
 
We have completed the lyrics to our E-Safety Song and shared them with Mrs Gawler (who will have a look at them with choir).  These will be shared with the whole school during our E-Safety Worship in a few weeks time.
 
Ideas for E-Safety Assembly:  This year's theme is 'Together for a safer internet.'
 
 
Short sketch/performance - two children gaming online - someone being unkind online...
Different 'heroes' appear to the children in their dreams with messages about how to stay safe and deal with the situation.    Sapphires and Mrs Legg to complete script.  Begin rehearsing next week.

E Safety Meeting Minutes 7.1.20

Mrs Legg had to attend another meeting today and so E-Safety Committee has been postponed until next week.

E-Safety Lessons:

Diamonds and Topaz shared that it had been easier using the internet to search since we change to Safe Search Kids web browser. 
 
 
This week 
 
We went around the school conducting an audit of the school computers to check that pupils and staff were locking the screens when they were out of the room.    We conducted this audit at lunchtime and after school. 
 
Next Meeting
Due to an Inset Day on the first day of term, our next meeting will be on Tuesday 7th January 2020 (for those not already attending Worship Group).   We will begin to prepare for our upcoming assembly and E-Safety Week.

All members present:  2 Sapphires, 2 Rubies, 2 Topaz, 1 Diamond & Mrs Legg
 
E-Safety Lessons:

Topaz Class reported that they have been learning about safe ways to search for pictures online.  They used a web browser called Safe Search Kids.  This has now been set as the school's default launch page on the computers and laptops at school.   The Committee suggested that we send a message out in the newsletter so that parents and carers can do the same at home too.  
 
 
This week 
 
We started to discuss ideas that we might use for our E-Safety Assembly after Christmas.   

Save the date: Safer Internet Day is on the 11th February 2020! 

Safer Internet Day 2020 will be celebrated globally with the theme: Together for a better internet. 

 
Next Meeting

Sapphires have done an E-Safety quiz following a video, thinking about cyberbullying and how we should treat others online.
